Tungsten Alloy Bar Introduction

Tungsten alloy bar is consist of 85-99% tungsten with balanced commonly nickel and iron or copper. The alloys are made by liquid-phase sintering to give a structure consisting of almost pure tungsten particles in a matrix of the alloy elements. Tungsten heavy alloy, with densities between 15.8 and 18.75 g/cm3, represent the heaviest materials generally available to the engineer. It has excellent radiation resistance, thermal and electric conductivities, corrosion resistance and machinable.

Tungsten alloy bar is plays important role in manufacturing of collimator for nuclear medicine, nuclear research, geologging and homeland security. These materials provide reliable protection against X-rays and gamma radiation.

The Advantage of Tungsten Alloy

  • Able to absorb the rays: The ability is so strong that it’s about 30-40% higher than lead;
  • High Thermal conductivity coefficient: 5 times that of die steel;
  • Low Thermal expansion coefficient: Only 1/2-1/3 of that of iron or steel;
  • With good weld-ability and process-ability.
